FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

a)     What are your fees?

Our standard fees are $225/session. We do offer a percentage of our spots for sliding scale, depending on availability:

Here are the sliding scale options: Negotiable low fees or pro bono services for clients who are unhoused, unemployed, and have little to no resources.

Standard sliding scale fees: $125 for clients who have a place to live but struggle to afford rent or food.

b)     Do you accept insurance?

Although we do NOT accept any insurance, we do accept all major credit cards and HSA cards. We do provide monthly Superbill for tax reasons.

Some PPO insurance plans reimburse for out of network therapy. Please contact your insurance provider to see if they are able to cover some or all of your out of network therapy expenses, and we would be happy to provide you with monthly superbills for your insurance.

c)     What is your cancellation/missed appointment policy?

Of course, emergencies happen and we understand. We do not charge for emergencies, such as a death in the family, hospitalization, or severe illness of a family member.

We also allow for cancellations for no charge for up to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time. Cancellations that are made in less than 24 hours within your appointment window and missed appointments accrue a charge equal to your regular appointment charge.

d)     I don’t live in San Diego. Can I still work with you?

Yes, you can receive services so long as you live anywhere in California or Nevada.

If you live outside of California or Nevada, you can schedule a consultation session with Dr. Scarlet, but she would not be able to be your therapist.

e)     What type of confidentiality standards are you required to take?

Everything we talk about in our sessions is 100% confidential and stays only between us, unless you tell me otherwise.

The only exceptions to this are cases of emergency as directly required by law:

·      If you are in immediate danger to yourself or others

·      If there is any ongoing instance of child abuse, abuse of an elderly or disabled person

f)      Are all sessions virtual?

Yes, all sessions are virtual. They are conducted over a Zoom-like software, called Simple Practice. Simple Practice is secure and HIPAA compliant.

The advantages of doing virtual sessions are that you don't have to spend time driving out of your way, pay for gas, and parking. We can also meet at more flexible times than most offices are open (some evening and weekend appointments are available, especially in emergency cases).

g)     Do you work with children or families?

No, at this time, we work with individual adults

h)     How do I book an appointment?
